Gold Hill Cabernet Merlot, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Fragrant, fresh, enjoyable.
Owners of old Hill, the Gill family have been farming for thousands of years in the Punjab and when they moved to Canada in the 1980s continued to do so in the Okanagan Valley. Born in 2009, Gold Hill makes small lot estate wines from the Gill's 65-acres in the south Okanagan; 32 in Osoyoos and 24-acres on the Golden Mile (not part of the sub-GI).
This Cabernet Franc and Merlot blend offers aromas of plum cake and cassis, cedar, vanilla, violets, roasted red bell peppers and wild herbs. Fresh and balanced it has earthy undertones woven with berry flavours. A very enjoyable red.
